Lake Lanier Fishing Report November 28th - December 2nd, 2022
Lake Lanier Weekly report for December 2, 2022:
Lake Level is 4.3ft below full pool
Water Temps between ranging between 55-60 depending on what unit I’m looking at and what part of the lake I’m in.
I have been out for the past three days looking for the lights out ditch bite, and for me, it just has not set up yet. At least not like it had by this time last year.
That being said, there are fish around the ditches, I just did not find any traditional big schools yet.
The shakey head ruled the deck of the boat for the past few days. I’m averaging one fish every 45min to an Hr of fishing. No giants this week, but all were solid fish that if I ever get tired of catching, I will know it’s time to find a other job.
The areas that have been most productive have been primary and secondary rock points in or at the mouths of the ditches. I have also caught some fish in front of docks in ditches as well that have 15-25 FOW in front of them.
My bait of choice is a Davis HBT 3/16oz shakey head paired with a Trixster custom baits Tamale and Money Maker in green pumpkin green.
There is nothing special on how it’s being worked, slow and not over working the bait seemed to be important.
As we move into the full moon and for a few days afterwards, the crawfish bite should pick up around rock. With the lack of cold weather in the 10 day forecast, I expect fish to remain scattered about.
I received word tonight from Cast Fishing Co - USA that they are restocked on 12lb braid. With the ditch and shakey head bite, those long casts are critical. Especially when throwing small swimbaits over deep water. There is no better braid on the market for casting distance.
I plan on being on the water just about every day between now and Christmas, if you are interested in a trip, shoot me a message. Speaking of Christmas, there is no better gift than one of an experience. Gift cards are available if you are interested in that as well.
Thank you all for the support!
Jeff.
